Volvo Financial Services (VFS) in the Netherlands is the expertise centre in Europe in the field of financing. In order to support the transition to an ERP system for all Scandinavian countries, CIMSOLUTIONS works within the Application Centre of VFS as a partner of Volvo IT. The Application Centre receives requests from users from all over Europe and is the functional and technical point of contact for the migrations to the ERP package and develops custom web applications to supplement the ERP system. It is the linchpin between the users, the ERP supplier and the Volvo IT organisation in Gothenburg and Ghent. The IT specialists of CIMSOLUTIONS deal with many cultures and regularly travel abroad to map the impact of changes together with users, Volvo IT and the ERP supplier and to make agreements about the delivery. Specialists of CIMSOLUTIONS have worked on various projects for VFS as business architect, business/information analyst, database designer, database developer, software architect, software designer, software developer, functional manager, application manager and tester.
Web application developers from CIMSOLUTIONS have designed, developed and tested a .NET web service that replaces the many existing calculations in different systems with one central application: the VFS calculator. The project was carried out according to the DSDM methodology, in which the functionality was prioritized in consultation with the core users. An iteration plan was then drawn up and executed. After three iterations, most of the functionality is in production and the focus is mainly on the integration of the web service with the numerous systems within the various Volvo business areas and the dealer portals. Interfaces were defined and developed in XML for this. It was the first time that .NET technology was used for VFS, so CIMSOLUTIONS was also involved in drawing up development standards, setting up the .NET development path and setting up an Object Oriented architecture (UML, Use Cases, Class diagrams).
