What I enjoy about working as a systems administrator is that the work is never really finished. You do have certain processes and migrations that you go through, and those are completed at some point. But the infrastructure and the users are always there; it always has to stay up and running, and there’s always room for improvement.

I’m Dennis, 31 years old. I’ve been working at CIMSOLUTIONS since 2021. I started here as a graduate student on a graduation internship assignment and then moved on to a permanent position. I worked on a few internal projects, then was placed in an internal role, and after a few years, I moved on to a client project.

I now work for a large client on a system management team. We’re talking about an enterprise-scale project with thousands of workstations that I manage, both physical and digital, and the associated infrastructure. Yes, I think that’s really great. You get to experience a lot of new technologies, and they’re on a larger scale than I was used to. So you learn a lot, and the team really supported me. Because even though I’m external, I really feel part of the team, so that works really well.

What I like about CIMSOLUTONS in terms of work culture is that it’s simply very direct. There are short lines of communication with management and colleagues who are also on secondment. So if you have any questions, you can quickly connect with each other.

We also have several professional groups, which we call competence centers. These are groups of colleagues who work together on specific topics. So, in addition to the assignment you’re working on at the client, there’s always room to delve into interesting topics in that way. And that also offers some opportunities for career development.

We also have what’s called field management here. So you essentially have a manager who guides you in your career. So you have regular contact with your own field manager. That’s very valuable, and I really appreciate that.

What I really like is that we also take on really large projects. One project I recently completed was the migration of the operating system. There’s a lot involved with that. You have a very large client, so there are many stakeholders. It’s great that you can implement and supervise such a process and keep everyone happy. And that you experience the process and ultimately complete it successfully, which is, of course, the most important thing.
