In 2013, I started as an internal systems administrator, and together with the team, I worked for over nine years on the server environment, network management, workstation management, and telephone systems.
After nine years internally, I felt the need to do something different. At CIMSOLUTIONS this is possible, because they have a very interesting and extensive client portfolio. That gave me a great opportunity to step outside my comfort zone. You get different stimuli, different environments, and that simply provides opportunities for further development.
I am now an Azure Cloud Engineer, and together with the team, I am responsible for the Microsoft Azure platform. I’m responsible for its management, but also for its continued development. As an Azure Cloud Engineer, one of the most important aspects is being able to create infrastructure with code, which is called Infrastructure as Code. So you write it instead of just clicking it together. And that makes it a very nice and diverse part of your job. On the one hand, you have the actual code you’re working on and making improvements to it, but on the other hand, you also have the human-process-technology aspect around it.
In principle, everyone at CIMSOLUTIONS is a member of the Competence Center. I’m a member of the Security and Privacy Competence Center myself, and it’s fantastic that you can bring all that expertise together from different roles, bringing together current market developments and thus sharing knowledge with each other.
Every employee has a field manager. The field manager focuses primarily on you as a person, on your certifications—both the hard and soft skills. I also find the soft skills aspect important, so I recently took a training course on influencing skills. And I actually apply that very effectively in my work.
At a secondment agency, there’s a chance that employees have been deployed to the client for extended periods, meaning they’re hardly in the office for longer periods. CIMSOLUTIONS regularly organizes events. This ensures that you, as an employee, remain engaged with the organization and see your colleagues regularly. This also makes it easy to exchange knowledge and maintain contacts.
