What are you going to do?
Gathering and managing knowledge is essential to meet rapidly changing customer demands and needs. CIMSOLUTIONS has developed a unique approach for this: a live, future-oriented knowledge management system that develops competencies and knowledge. CIMSOLUTIONS has been working on knowledge management since its foundation in 1992. In 2002, an integral model was developed for this purpose, based on the existing approach, together with a university. The model contains all components and processes for gathering, developing, sharing and applying knowledge.
One of the Knowledge Management components concerns internal training courses and workshops, which CIMSOLUTIONS has developed itself and which are regularly provided by senior employees. These training courses focus on software development (OOAD/Java /.NET), project management, information analysis and drawing up requirements. In addition, Special Interest Groups (SIG) meetings are held weekly, where substantive presentations are given. These SIGs focus on skills, such as Java, Microsoft, Testing, Project Management, Information Analysis, Architecture, Management, Databases, Embedded & Mobile and on specific domains such as government, Traffic & Transport, Banking & Insurance. These meetings are accessible to both our employees and customers. All presentations are made available on the Intranet.
The E-Learning project
CIMSOLUTIONS needs to expand the current training offer and the Intranet with E-learning facilities. Consider offering internal online Webinars, Web- and Podcasts as support, preparation and as reference material for the training courses. This allows CIMSOLUTIONS employees to learn flexibly (learning material is available 24/7), time and resources are used more efficiently (e.g. by the possibility of preparation) and increased consistency (the material offered is the same for everyone). In addition, the material is permanently available to all employees, to support their work at our customers.
In the future, CIMSOLUTIONS also wants to apply this functionality for commercial support/propositions towards customers and prospects, such as offering Webcasts on specific topics such as Agile Scrum, Testing, Architecture.
The assignment:
The assignment consists of the following parts:
- investigating concrete applications of E-learning within CIMSOLUTIONS;
- the realization of a development environment (resources and methods) with which CIMSOLUTIONS can develop and maintain E-learning material;
- developing e-learning material for existing specific training courses;
- realizing this extension to our existing Intranet platform;
- making recommendations regarding future developments in the field of E-learning.
The elaboration:
- substantiating choices regarding your approach and results with an eye for quality and costs;
- the concrete application of modern ICT technology;
- working out the assignment, planning and progress in a structured manner;
- analyzing, interpreting, evaluating and drawing conclusions from results;
- formulating recommendations for follow-up actions;
- report in writing and orally on the results of the assignment.
The expected results:
- Research report E-learning possibilities;
- Plan of approach;
- Working E-learning development environment, including documentation;
- E-learning material for 1 or more existing trainings available on Intranet;
- Final report with lessons learned, conclusions and recommendations regarding future developments and opportunities for commercial application.
Required knowledge and experience:
- Good command of the Dutch language
- Knowledge of and affinity with setting up an (open source) CMS.
- Relevant experience with modern development platforms such as Java/.NET/C#.
- Knowledge of design and modeling techniques such as Use Cases and UML.
- Knowledge and experience with MS Sharepoint is a plus.
- Experience with making digital content available is an advantage.
