The CBS is responsible for collecting, processing and publishing statistics for practice, policy and science. In addition to the responsibility for national (official) statistics, the CBS is also responsible for the production of European statistics.
CIMSOLUTIONS has carried out various assignments as a “framework contract” ICT preferred supplier for the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).
For example, CIMSOLUTIONS managed content and developed the website for CBS:
- The content management for the CBS website was provided. In consultation with end users, the CBS website was redesigned both functionally and technically. The website was made more accessible and reliable by restructuring information, conducting research into an improved navigation structure and its implementation, introducing theme pages and offering content that is more customized and varied (such as dynamic vacancy pages).
- The Business Cycle Clock was developed for the CBS website, a component of the Electronic Business Cycle Report that consists of a scatter diagram with 15 points (indicators), with which one can quickly and easily read the current state of the Dutch economy. All necessary background information is easily accessible via the clock on the web.
- Statweb functionality was developed for the CBS website. StatWeb is an internet application that displays CBS publications in table form. ‘Drag & drop’ functionality was developed so that the cells of the dynamically generated tables can be adjusted (similar to Excel but then on the web). In-depth research was conducted into the usability of XML, XSL and XQL, resulting in a new dynamic website.
